Quicky update

I've recently realized that all I really want to do is make comics. It's a problem. I've read a lot of comics, watched a lot of cartoons, and have a reasonable sense of what a comic SHOULD be. Unfortunately, that doesn't translate very well when it comes to me having some kind of actual output. That stuff is HARD to come up with, I'll tell you what.

So in order to practice I've decided to start one about some kind of magical superhero crimefighter. I don't know what I'm going to do for plot, backstory, character development or even character design, but I guess that's why they call it practice.

My heroine's name is Tyro. She's a mermaid.

Roomies

These babies were fun. They're not very large, but I did a lot of meddling with the materials before I was finished with them. These are paper, paint, fabric, and coloring pages mounted on posterboard.

Third generation

I did this series for a class. This was the first time I discovered how much I loved to cut and arrange paper. For the metal embellishments I used bits and pieces of old jewelry, some decorative clasps, and buttons.

...big Sabrina

My friends and I call this Big Sabrina. Poor thing doesn't really have a name apart from that. The actual Sabrina wasn't hugely impressed by the name at first, but I think she's forgiven us by now.

Paper Dolls

I love paper dolls. My mom also loves them. Now this is in her sewing room.

Jump

This was a Christmas gift for a friend of mine last year. Paper, ModPodge, ribbon. The background is vellum and some photographs of us over time.

Welcome to the arena

Can I just say that I appreciate the distance that blogs have come in the last few years? This whole picture-posting business is way the heck easier than it once was.

This is where I do my thing. Somewhere in the world there ought to be a place where the goobers who want to see what I do can actually look at it. Here, then, is the place where complete strangers can come and meet my babies.
